Mr Vegas given the keys to city in Honduras

At a time when the reggae music industry is being buffeted by numerous artiste controversies and challenges, internationally known singjay Mr Vegas has earned a major honour in the Central American country of Honduras, where he was presented with the keys to the city of La Ceiba.
"I got a great welcome from the governor over there. They gave me the keys to the city and said that my music was an inspiration to the people of Honduras," Vegas said during an interview.

"It was really humbling and gratifying and it shows the power of reggae music to transcend boundaries of language and culture, and that there are still great ambassadors for reggae on the international scene."

The Governor of the Department of Atlantis, Venancio Sabio, presented the keys to the city to the singjay known for reggae chart-toppers such as I Am Blessed and Heads High.
"The Government of Honduras which I represent as Governor of the Department of Atlantis, was honoured with your visit, especially with your music which has transmitted messages of peace, and unity to the youth of Honduras. We hope you liked City of La Ceiba, and that one day, you can return," Governor Sabio said during an informal ceremony to welcome the artiste to the city.

Honduras is divided into 18 regions or departments. The city of La Ceiba is located in the Department of Atlantida.
