Audrey, Oral, Milk raised the bar

Showing their knowledge of music, the celebrity panel of judges, Audrey Reid, Oral Tracey and Amelia 'Milk' Sewell have ensured that the bar be raised higher.
No fewer than 15 contestants who made it to the semi-finals and grand finals in last year's contest have failed thus far to earn a Lifeline Card in the 2010 series, thus stamping their authority on this year's contest.

Not even the persistent all-night rain, on Friday, and the dark clouds which hung ominously low, on Saturday morning, could dampen the will of the hopefuls as they turned up at the Island Village, Ocho Rios to take their chance at winning $1 million dollars and instant fame.

One contestant displayed a violent streak when told he would not be going forward in the contest. He ranted and cursed at the top of his voice, telling all who would listen that he had the talent to go forward.
This caused much concern among the judges. However, things did not escalate, and the contestant reluctantly left the judging area, vowing to return.
There was one female contestant who 'killed' Roberta Flack's classic Killing Me Softly.
Following the lunch break, there were a number of Garnet Silk sound-alikes, one going as far as to claim he is the late singer's brother, only for that claim to be blown up when questioned by Oral Tracey. When asked how his surname differed from that of the late singer he replied "We born the same month and in the same parish."
Standout performances came from singers Yasheka Reid, Dennilee West, Cowayne Nunes, 16-year-old Ramario English who sang and strummed his guitar into the next round, and the trio R.M. who gave a polished performance with the Manhattan's hit Shining Star. All earned Lifeline Cards and will move on to the next round.
The Tastee Talent Trail fourth audition for 2010 will take place on Saturday, July 31, at the Tastee Depot, 105 Barnett Street, Montego Bay.
