People sound off on Gaza/Gully absence this year at sting stage show

Without the presence of top-flight deejays Vybz Kartel and Mavado on the line-up of this year's staging of Sting, many have raised questions as to whether or not the show would be prosperous as in past years.

Dubbed 'The Greatest One-Night Show On Earth', Sting will be without, two of dancehall's hottest acts for the annual December 26, 2010 concert to be held at Jam World, Portmore.
the star took to the streets of downtown Kingston, speaking with the public about their views on the absence of the artistes from the stage show.
Mixed views were given by some persons, while others were adamant that the stage show would result in a complete 'flop'.

"Sting nah go gwaan wid nutten this year. The two big artiste dem nah guh deh deh. A Kartel mi seh, him and I-Octane, but a really Kartel mi a guh fi see, an the majority of people weh mi know a seh di same ting. It a go flop widout them (Kartel and Mavado)," said store clerk Diane Miller.
"Mi nuh think it a go flop, but mi nuh think it a go do as good as it can do. Dem nah guh make nuh money, cause nuff people nah guh go. Dem two deh draw crowd. Yuh see like how Beenie Man and Bounty Killer used to have the place lock back inna di days, a so dem two deh a gwaan now," said 18-year-old Omand Hartley.
fill the void

One man thought the young acts would not make much of a difference as other veteran deejays could fill the void.

He said: "It nuh must flop, enuh. Yuh seh Bounty Killer and Beenie deh deh and yuh dun know Killer a di DJ a di century. Di Killer can still bring it. Plus, who bad like Sizzla? Dem presence nuh really ago miss because Sting a gwaan long before them come bout. How long now Sting a gwaan? Long time."
Romain Trowers also thought Sting would be a 'flop' this year, as he said: "Mi nuh think it a go generate as much crowd as usual. Mi think it a go flop straight. A di two biggest thing dem now enuh. The Teacha and 'Gully Gad' nuh deh a Sting, wah wi a guh fa den?"
