The buzz has begun around the event which will see its 11th staging this Saturday at James Bond Beach in Oracabessa, St Mary. Deejays Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel will both be on the show, Bounty having been a long time staple at the event, while this will mark Vybz Kartel's second performance on the show since his split from the Bounty Killer-led Alliance in 2006. Incarcerated Buju Banton wins 2011 grammy award.

Embattled international Reggae superstar Buju Banton has won the Grammy Award for best Reggae Album. Buju’s Before the Dawn album took the Grammy Award over the late Gregory Isaacs’ Isaacs Meets Isaac , Lee "Scratch" Perry’s Revelation, Bob Sinclar And Sly & Robbie’s Made In Jamaica , Sly & Robbie And The Family Taxi’s One Pop Reggae  and Andrew Tosh’s Legacy: An Acoustic Tribute To Peter Tosh . Sunday's Grammy win comes one day before Buju, whose given name is Mark Myrie, is scheduled to be retried for drug trafficking in Tampa, Florida. Buju’s first trial in the United States ended in a mistrial after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict in September 2010. Why an independent women should remain single?

Image
THERE are men who are so disturbed by the fact that their spouses make more money than they do, that a fizzled relationship is inevitable, because they can't deal with independent women who don't see them as breadwinners. Then there are other men who aren't so disturbed, but who are puzzled by the concept of the other 'independent woman' — the one who declares her independence, but still expects favours from men. For example, women like to be pampered, and there are some of us who will cater to these needs for ourselves. But there are others, who declare themselves independent, but who expect the man to 'help out' still. The question then is, where do we ladies draw the line? When is financial independence too overwhelming and when does financial dependence get to the point where it is just too much for the man to handle? To get the views of men, I did a small survey amongst my male friends.

How all of sudden Beenie man a defend Vybz Kartel.

Despite reports of tension between the two artistes, dancehall deejay Beenie Man has come to the defense of fellow deejay Vybz Kartel. It has been reported in several articles that a popular New York radio disc jock said he would not be playing any of Vybz Kartel’s song during February, Black History Month, as he believes that the popular deejay does not respect his heritage because he bleaches his skin. However, Beenie Man, in a recent interview, spoke out about the disc jocks decision. "Dancehall is dancehall, when it comes to hardcore dancehall, I don’t support any ban of dancehall music. If Kartel is sending a bleaching message, then he can understand why a man would not play it because we love our black skin, and black is beauty, but for the disc jock to say that he’s not playing dancehall music because Kartel is advocating bleaching is going a bit too far ... not all (of) Kartel songs are about bleaching," Beenie Man said.
