R&B singer Tyrese will be doing a special performance in Montego Bay, St James, for Independence weekend as a precursor to his upcoming album 'Open Invitation.'

The singer has been absent from the music scene since he released the double album 'Alter Ego' in 2006. He is known for songs such as How You Gonna Act Like That, Lately, One and What Am I Gonna Do. After releasing several albums, the former model transitioned into films, with lead roles such as the recent blockbusters Fast Five and Transformers: Dark of the Moon. He also released his own book titled 'How to Get Out of Your Own Way.'

Tyrese will perform live on August 6 at Iberostar Hotel in Rose Hall, Montego Bay. The concert is being produced by MBK Entertainment - a US based independent management, production and film company who has worked with the likes of Alicia Keys, rapper Fame and 14 year old Gabi Wilson. MBK in association with Iberostar Hotel will be offering the performance free for hotel guests as well as lucky contest winners.
According to a release sent to THE WEEKEND STAR, the concert will be filmed and broadcast to more than 50 million music lovers around the world at no cost by OWL Music. Also scheduled to appear on the show are SRC/Universal artiste Anthony Hall , MBK Entertainment artiste Fame, MBK Entertainment label mate Elle Varner, Denyque, known for songs like Supergirl and other local acts.

Tyrese will be performing old hits as well as yet-to-be-heard music from his upcoming 'Open Invitation' album. On social networking site Twitter.com, the artiste seemed enthused about his return to music. He tweeted recently, "I'm on my music again. With all this love and energy it feels like I never left."
Varner, whose debut disc Perfectly Imperfect features the hit single Only Wanna Give It To You, will hit stores in the fall of 2011. "Not only am I excited to perform with Tyrese I am extra excited about performing for the lovely people of Jamaica," she is quoted as saying in the release.
