PNP pleased with progress over 100 days in office

The People's National Party administration says it is pleased with its performance over the past one hundred days in office.
In a release Sunday, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller said good and steady progress had been made.

In a statement from Cartagena, Columbia where she is participating in the 6th Summit of the Americas, Mrs Simpson Miller said the first one hundred days is an extremely short time for any government, but she is confident that her administration has done much.

The prime minister highlighted the government's achievements in the economy, national security, energy, tourism and the Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme (JEEP).

Included in what the PNP administration says are its achievements, is the putting  forward of the Government’s position for a new arrangement with the International Monetary Fund, IMF and ending the month of March with the lowest murder count for any single month in the last nine years.

In addition to this the PNP said it has so far in its 100 days  boosted   job opportunities in  the first phase of the Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme.

In the meantime the opposition Jamaica Labour Party  will be hosting a press conference Monday to give its assessment of the PNP’s first one hundred days in office.
