Man arrested with "Tommy Lee" charged with murder
The police in the western parish of St James have laid a murder
charge against a man who was recently arrested along with entertainer,
Leroy Russell, otherwise called, "Tommy Lee.”
Oshane Rankine, 20, from the neighbouring parish of Westmoreland has been charged with the October 1, 2013 fatal shooting of Ramar Cunningham, 27 and the injuring of a 22 year-old man, in Lilliput, St. James. He is also charged with wounding with intent and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Rankine who was arrested in a routine stop and search of his vehicle in New Kingston on February 3, after he was cited for allegedly breaching the Road Traffic Act, did not have a driver’s license in his possession and gave an identity which turned out to be fictitious. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
The other occupants of the vehicle, entertainer Sabrina James as well as Shanice Smith were detained.Following further investigations the Lottery Scam Task Force was contacted and this led to an operation at an apartment complex on Brompton Road in Kingston 5.
During a search of the premises, paraphernalia used in the lottery scam were seized. The occupants of the apartment were taken into custody on suspicion of breaches of the anti-lottery scam act.
The others charged were Tommy Lee, Sabrina Williams, along with O’Brien James and Shanice Smith.They are scheduled to appear in Court on March 4.
