Artiste Mr Lexx plays summer movie roles

Dancehall artiste Mr Lexx, already facing the possibility of a secondary career as a model, is spreading his wings even further as he appears in small roles in two movies due out this summer.

The entertainer, born Christopher Palmer and who grew up in east Kingston, tells  that he will be seen in films called Wha Do Dem and Out The Gate.

Wha Do Dem is a movie about "this dude who comes to Jamaica on a cruise but somehow lost his documents, so he starts a journey from Ocho Rios to the US Embassy in Kingston. On his way he meets different people and I am one of them," Mr. Lexx says. "My role is he comes to me asking directions and I give him a lift, so I get a decent five minutes."
The film is written and directed by Ben Chace and stars Sean Bones as the lead character, Max. Max lives in Brooklyn. He enjoys playing soccer, skateboarding, and drinking with his friends at local bars. He and his girlfriend, Willow, played by singer Norah Jones, win a free cruise to Jamaica but two days before the trip she dumps him cold. The film also features Carl Bradshaw who plays the role of a mystic man.
Out The Gate stars Paul Campbell, who many will remember as the lead character in The Lunatic and Third World Cop. In this action-packed movie which is about the rise of a young entertainer played by Everton 'E Dee' Dennis, a Jamaican entertainer based in California, Campbell plays a 'very bad man'.
Oliver Samuels plays a lead role in the movie that also features up and coming talent Shelli Boone. Mr. Lexx plays, what he describes as a 'fun role'. "I play a mad friend of one of the lead characters," he said.

The two roles may have piqued Mr Lexx's interest in acting who says he is not averse to considering future roles in film.
"It's been something I play around with in my mind," he said of the possibility of future ventures into acting. "Should an opportunity present itself I will definitely pursue it, but for now my main focus is on music."

10 Crazy things women do for men

EVER wondered why people who say they are in love attach the term crazy to it? That’s probably because people in love usually do crazy things to maintain the emotional ties that exist between themselves and their significant others.

Women are notorious for doing the stupidest things when it comes to securing a love connection and below we highlight some of the craziest things they do for the men in their lives.

1.Watch a match without having the slightest interest in the game: While there is nothing wrong in hanging out with your beau, some women will tell you that watching a three-hour Test match for his sake is like torture.

2. Empty their bank accounts: From getting him the flashiest car, to buying him the latest designs, some women have been extremely generous when it comes to bearing their men gifts. Some even go further than that and give the men complete access to their bank accounts, without any guarantee that the men will be committed to them for a lifetime.

3.Isolate family and friends: Some women not only forget themselves when they hook up with a new guy, but they also forget their friends and families too. When the ultimatum is given to choose between the men and their families, many women choose the men.

4.Share him with other women, and go bareback: Some women go with the general notion that it is better to share him rather than not have him at all. Crazy is what they are! Still others, even while knowing the men are unfaithful, choose to adhere to the men’s wishes to have sex without a condom

The grand opening for the bar/lounge takes place at the end of this month.

“There are many sides to Grace Hamilton. There’s Spice the deejay, there’s Grace the mother, and there’s Grace the businesswoman. I don’t think people should try to study me,” she said laughing. “I don’t only look at the here and now, I have to think about the future because at 50 or 60 I certainly won’t be on stage doing splits and jumping. I’m a forward-thinker and this is what I’ve been up to for the past few weeks – getting all my businesses in shape and getting ready for the opening of the bar.”

R&B Eminem goes to rehab for drug addiction

The rapper , who checked into a rehabilitation centre in 2005 to be treated for an addiction to prescription pills, says the sessions and the love of his children help him stay sober.
He said: "How do you stay sober? My kids, and also I see a rehab counsellor once a week. I've been clean for two years."

Eminem has a 14-year-old daughter, Hailie, his child with ex-wife Kimberley Anne Scott, and two adopted girls, Alaina, the child of Kimberley's sister, and Whitney, Kimberley's daughter from a previous relationship.
The hip hop superstar is also the legal guardian of his younger half-brother Nathan.
Eminem admits at the height of his addiction he would take any strong prescription drug he could get his hands on, including methadone, which almost killed him in 2005 when he overdosed on the powerful heroin substitute.

The 37-year-old star, who is just about to release his new album Recovery, which deals with his drug experiences, told the New York Times newspaper: "I was on Vicodin, Valium and Ambien, and toward the end, which caused my overdose, methadone. I didn't know it was methadone. I used to get pills wherever I could. I was just taking anything that anybody was giving to me.
"The first time I went to rehab it was in Brighton, Michigan. The second time I didn't go to rehab. I just went to a regular hospital. I detoxed in the hospital, and then I came home."

Mother says 'Dudus' a hero

THE 63-year-old woman lies in bed inside her Tivoli Gardens home clutching a radio, listening intently to each news bulletin as though her life depends on it. Source: Jamaica Observer.

A worried frown creases her forehead. She appears restless. Pauline ‘Patsy’ Halliburton, mother of Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke, is terrified that she will never “see” her son alive again.

Coke, who is wanted on gun and drug charges in the United States, has been on the run since May 17 when a warrant was issued for his arrest. Less than a week later, security forces traded bullets with gunmen in his Tivoli Gardens community, and when the smoke cleared 73 civilians and a soldier lay dead. Coke, who was reported to have been in Tivoli at the start of the May 24 incursion, escaped, the police said.
Now Halliburton, who is diabetic and blind, is hungry for news of her son. Her frustration is compounded by the fact that she is somewhat restricted in her movement as a result of an amputated leg caused by the disease.
