Movado - no show at Guyana's Caribbean Jam

Thousands of Mavado fans in Guyana were disappointed on Saturday when he did not show up at the Slingerz Family’s Caribbean Jam at the National Stadium. The dancehall artiste blamed the promoter of the Slingerz Summer Jam for his no-show at Saturday’s concert in Georgetown.

Mavado has teamed with American rapper Jadakiss on the reggae/Rhythm and Blues song Just Like Magic, produced by Jamaica-born, New York-based Musical Masquerade. "The collaboration came about from an idea to blend unmistakable voices from reggae and hip hop and put them together on a reggae track. From there we reached out to the respective camps," said Musical Masquerade.

 Dancehall Artiste Mavado was found guilty of assault and causing grievous bodily arm when he appeared in the Montego Bay Registrate Magistrate Court on Monday May 7, 2012. He was fined 80 thousand dollars or six months in prison. He was also charged with malicious destruction of property or pay a fine of 20-thousand dollars or six months in jail.

I David Brooks wish to make the following statement:   On the 13th June 2011, arising out of an incident which took place at the Quad Nightclub in New Kingston where Conroy Edwards aka "Connie" was fatally shot whilst being unarmed. To date, this matter continues to be the subject of investigations with the lapse of seven (7) months. The matter became one of public interest to the extent that one of the major news stations, TVJ , has featured video clips of the part of the incident leading up to the shooting of Conroy . This feature formed part of its 2011 Year in Review Highlights .

Dancehall singjay Mavado may soon set up shop in the continent of Africa, ahead of an upcoming performance there. Reports out of the West African nation of Ghana suggest that Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, has expressed interest in migrating there, to local journalists at a pre-concert press conference in Accra last weekend.

The biggest surprise in dancehall this year is the feud between the Alliance and it’s sub group Gullyside lead by Mavado. Members of the Gullyside, particularly Chase Cross, blame Alliance head Bounty Killer for initiating the feud after the untimely death of Mavado’s friend Connie Edwards at his birthday bash in May. Allegations are that, Bounty Killer blame Mavado and his Gullyside entourage for disrupting his party and thus showed no signs of remorse for the slain Edwards.

The police today arrested and charged 30-year-old dee-jay Mavado with assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property. Mavado whose real name is David Brooks is alleged to have assaulted a man and damaged his Toyota Camry motor vehicle along the Belmont main road in St. James.

Dancehall artiste Mavado is again being sought by the police. This follows an attack on a man and his son in St. James Saturday night, July 23. It is understood that the complainant parked his car along a section of the Belmont Road about 7:00 p.m. when Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, and his friends drove up.

Christian Tavares-Finson, the attorney for dancehall artiste Mavado, has made contact with the Anchovy Police in St James. This follows Sunday's request by the police for Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, to make contact with them in connection with an incident in which a father and his were reportedly wounded by the entertainer and his entourage on Belmont Road on Friday night, July 22.

Promoter sues Mavado - Artiste's management denies they were at fault

Promoters of the show, Stuntmania, have filed a lawsuit against singjay Mavado after the artiste didn't appear at the event in May. The promoters say Mavado's absence caused them to lose 'face' and money in the process. Mavado's management however says the promoters failed to meet "contractual agreements" which resulted in the artiste's non-appearance at the event.

Jamaica Artiste Mavado could testify in nightclub shooting case at Quad night club

The Director of Public Prosecutions is to rule whether dancehall artiste Mavado, is to be called as a witness in the case involving the shooting death of one of his associates. Conroy Edwards, who was reportedly part of the artiste's entourage, was shot in the abdomen, allegedly by a policeman, during an altercation outside a New Kingston nightclub on June 13. He died in hospital three days later.
