Digicel Rising Stars Winner Chantal Lamon was almost robbed by gunmen at home



24 hours after winning the 2011 season of the popular talent show, Digicel Rising stars, Chantal Lamont got the scare of her life as gunment attempted to break into her home.

Tash says she was at home in Yallahs, St Thomas, with her family when they became aware of gunmen in the community. Residents in the area alerted the police who took swift action and the gunmen fled.


The young singer told the Observer that she was really scared but happy nothing serious happened.
“I am okay now, but I was really scared. All I have in my house in a big, cardboard cheque, which they can’t do anything with. But I must make it clear that there was not robbery at my house. Mi door neva kick off and no excitement tek place. We just hear that the gunman dem in the area and the police was called in.”

Lamont was crowned the new Digicel Rising stars champion on Sunday (September 25th) in Kingston, Jamaica. She won a grand prize of JM$1 million and a scholarship at the Edna Manley College’s school of music, Tash will be returning to the Yallahs High School come Monday morning to meet the entry requirements.
