Vybz Kartel ,gang blamed for over 100 murders


Less than a week after he was sentenced to 35 years in prison, entertainer Vybz Kartel is once again making news headline.
This time, Commissioner of Police, Owen Ellington, disclosed that Kartel and his gang are responsible for over 100 murders


"Vybz Kartel led a gang which was responsible for well over 100 murders and we have been telling the country this for a long, long time and every time that we moved against this gang we were criticsed, condemned and we were accused of being malicious against this individual. In fact, if you look at his defence, they were saying there was a conspiracy on the part of the police, " Ellington said.

As it relates to charges, Ellington stated that persons involved in organised crimes conceal their activities and take steps to avoid detection.

"Even when their crimes are detected, they engage in witness elimination, witness tampering, jury tampering, conspiracy theories and criminal activities to pervert the course of justice."
Questioned about concerns regarding a cellular phone used as evidence in Vybz Kartel's murder trial, which was allegedly tampered with, Ellington had this to say:

"The call data extracted in relation to this phone showed that the length of the so called call was six seconds. Anyone who owns a smartphone will know that in the handling of that phone, you can inadvertently dial off a number which was already on the phone and that is the information that has given to me as to what occurred," he said.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, and his three co-accused, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and André St John, were last week sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.

MAN SHORTAGE AFFECTS CHURCHES IN JAMAICA - Christian women complain of lack of potential husbands

he shortage of men has become a growing problem in several Jamaican churches. The st ar understands that with some church population having as much as 80 per cent women, a large number of females have been left with a problem to find husbands.
