American Pop artiste will.i.am, yesterday released the official music video to his song 'Its My Birthday', on which he samples the work of Aidonia and Bounty Killer.
Although Bounty Killer was unavailable for comment, fellow Dancehall artiste Aidonia is celebrating his taste of international success.
Aidonia's raspy voice can be heard during the intro and chorus of the song, reciting some of the lyrics from his hit record Fi Di Jockey, while Bounty Killer yells "Big ship sailing".
Will.i.am is a multi-Grammy Award-winning artiste and member of the Black Eyed Peas pop band.
The music video for Its My Birthday can be viewed on will.i.am's personal YouTube vevo page which has over two million subscribers and pulls strong traffic from music lovers all over. His music video for That Power which featured Justin Bieber, received over 130 million views on Youtube.com.
This is not the first time that Aidonia's Fi Di Jockey has raised eyebrows internationally. The single was played on U.S.-based entertainment station BET by comedian Kevin Hart earlier this year.
According Aidonia's publicist Khalia Williams, the artiste is excited about finally making an international breakthrough.
"Aidonia is elated about being sampled. Will.i.am is a top artiste and it is a big deal to even be featured in the chorus of the song," Williams said.
As for Aidonia, the artiste says he knew the effort he placed into Fi Di Jockey would pay off.
"People have been reaching out to me on social media congratulating me. Jockey was one of the hardest songs to voice because I was experimenting a new sound that I had never done in dancehall. So I knew it would have been a hit and the vibe would be different," he said.
"Since the release of the official video, it has been getting crazy views. My fans all over the world have been tweeting me and messaging me on my instagram about my voice being used as a sub chorus. I just want to big up Will.i.am for appreciating dancehall music," Aidonia said.
Aidonia is now gearing up for a string of performances in the Caribbean as well as Sumfest. His single 80s Dancehall was recently added to the playlist of BBC's 1xtra.
He will also be the headline act in the LIME Celebrity Showcase at Famous nightclub tomorrow night. The club series has already seen a performance from Kalado.
