VYBZ KARTEL VENT IS ANGER ABOUT THE POLICE RAID ON HIS CLUB THE BUILDING ON RAGGASHANTI SHOW
.
A day after police raided the newly renovated Building in New Kingston, deejay Vybz Kartel and his business partner, Corey Todd, took to radio talk-show host Kingsley 'Ragashanti' Stewart's popular Mix Up and Blenda programme Ragashanti Live on Nationwide 90 FM to reason about the Sunday night raid on the club, among other topics.
During the interview, Vybz Kartel questioned statements made by the police that the raid was done based on information received that there were illegal firearms, drugs, wanted men and other persons of interest at the club.
In response to those statements Vybz Kartel said, "How dem neva come any other night before the event since them have issues with Vybz Kartel? Nobody neva come. Me and Corey stan up together inna di club every night. Every Tuesday wi deh deh, every Thursday wi deh deh, every Saturday wi deh deh. An nobody neva have nuh issues wid wi up until then. Why dem neva have nuh issue wid wi up until then? Why none a dis neva happen up until den? Dat a my question weh mi waan fi know."
He also hinted that the raid had to do with 'drama' with another event held on the same night.
security risk
Manager of The Building, Corey Todd, also said that reports made by the police in yesterday's were false.
Superintendent Derrick 'Cowboy' Knight, head of the Half-Way Tree police, said in yesterday's star, "This entertainment location poses a serious security risk as the capacity is between around 1,500-2,000 and Sunday night over 8,000 persons were crammed inside with another 3,000 persons standing outside."
Todd rubbished those comments as he laughed about the fact that the club cannot hold 8,000 persons, saying that the figure is ridiculous.
He also claimed that corruption was displayed as he said that one of the patrons in the club told him that a police officer dropped a bullet in the club and told him (the patron) to pick it up.
However, despite the raid, it will be business as usual at the club in coming weeks. For patrons that were disappointed with the Boxing Day event, another event is being planned soon to make it up to them. A charity event to raise funds for a kidney transplant for Mundo of the Ravers Clavers dancers is also being organised to be held at the club.
