Incarcerated Buju Banton wins 2011 grammy award.

Embattled international Reggae superstar Buju Banton has won the Grammy Award for best Reggae Album. Buju’s Before the Dawn album took the Grammy Award over the late Gregory Isaacs’ Isaacs Meets

Sunday's Grammy win comes one day before Buju, whose given name is Mark Myrie, is scheduled to be retried for drug trafficking in Tampa, Florida. Buju’s first trial in the United States ended in a mistrial after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict in September 2010. Since then, US prosecutors have added a fresh charge of possession of a firearm to the list of charges that are already tagged to Buju’s case.   Buju is charged with conspiracy to possess, intent to distribute cocaine, and aiding and abetting the possession of a firearm during a drug-trafficking offence.
