If Ramping Shop was banned then “Cum Now” should be banned also!!!!!

In a Gleaner release on Saturday, February 7, 2009 the Broadcasting Commission states that:
"There shall not be transmitted through radio or television, any recording, live song or music video which promotes the act of 'daggering' or which makes reference to, or is otherwise suggestive of 'daggering',"

This follows the banning of Vybez Kartel and Spice’s song “Ramping Shop” which was deemed raunchy and incompetent for radio play.
Its now almost three years since the Broadcasting Commission made this public directive which lead to the removal of several material from radio, television which were deemed lewd and in some way or another promoting daggering and or suggestive behavior.

Today February 2012.The Broadcasting Commission are under great scrutiny by the Jamaican public as they question if this law is still operational and relevant today.

Many ask if there is a transparent double standard in the music business, as some artists seem to be getting away with the same crime others are harshly punished for.

Gabriel’s new sing Cum Now which has is said to be expressing mere daggering taking place but done in a bit more concealed way is said to be getting played on popular radio stations. Many argue that the song is in no way different from other songs that have been banned from the radio.

Some fans on popular Internet sites raise the question of whether the Broadcasting Commission is being prejudice as Gabriel is associated with Alliance. This connection they believe is self-evident as Gaza artists are often victims of censorship with the most recent being the Raving King Popcorn and in the past the World Boss himself Vybes  Kartel’s with  Ramping Shop and several other material.

The Broadcasting Commission chairman Hopeton Dunn emphasized that; "There shall not be transmitted through song or music video which employs editing techniques or bleeping of its original lyrical content," continued.

All these infringements are apparent in the song in question (CUM Now) where numerous bleeps and punch-outs are present. The song was aired on a popular radio station last week and it was alleged that frequent calls were directed to the Broadcasting Commission as listeners claim they were astonished to hear the song played on the air.

No response was received from the host of the popular radio show nor from representatives of the Broadcasting Commission. However persons take their views to popular Internet sites where the clearly express themselves about the issue.

Throughout theses social media sites, persons urge the Broadcasting Commission to assess and review the content of newly released single Cum Now by Gabriel.

The song has being getting rave but ineffectual reviews from the public as they are saying it is too suggestive for radio play. The Broadcasting Commission has come under liability these days as complaints grow about unfit materials that have been transmitted over the radio. They have been committed to ensure that stations which breach the Television and Sound Broadcasting Regulations are sanctioned.

The Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) which also pledge to support the Broadcasting Commission in its attempt to stop the airing of songs with extensive bleeping and raunchiness are facing the same criticism as the Broadcasting Commission.

Both bodies are said to only be directing sanctions to only on set of people in the industry and are being heavily condemned for creating biased and for promoting a double standard within the music industry.
