Singer Sean Kingston stable after crash

MIAMI, United States (AP) — Authorities say Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston is hospitalised after a crashing a jet ski into a Miami Beach bridge. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Jorge Pino says Kingston and a female passenger were injured when the watercraft hit the Palm Island Bridge around 6:00 pm yesterday. Pino says both were hospitalised early today at Ryder Trauma Centre, but he didn't know their conditions.

Jah Vinci leaves Portmore Empire-Corey Todd to act as his new manager

Jah Vinci will now be managed by Vybz Kartel's ex-business partner, Corey Todd. It's strike four for the Gaza camp as Jah Vinci is the latest member to make his departure from the group, after being signed to the Portmore Empire since 2008. He becomes the fourth artiste to part ways with the Gaza camp following the likes of Lisa Hype, Gaza Kim and Blak Ryno after 'beatings and meetings'. The three have since then changed their names to Lisa Hyper, Kym and Ryno, respectively. Jah Vinci burst unto the scene in 2008 with  Weh Dem A Guh , a collaboration with Vybz Kartel on Stephen McGregor's hit Day Rave rhythm. Since then he has recorded songs such as  Money ,  Watch Yuh Friends ,  Wipe Those Tears ,  Guide Me  and  Mi Know,  with one of his latest being  Mama Love  on the Eternal rhythm.

Controversial deejay Vybz  Kartel claims that the first batch of his cake soap was completely sold off within a few days of being released last Friday. The deejay began limited distribution of the product after only publishing an advertisement in  the weekend star "Since we did the advert in the newspaper, the first batch, which was well over 2,000, has disappeared," the deejay said in an interview yesterday.

Mavado forms own label - Set to release new single soon

Dancehall artiste Mavado is taking his career to a new level with his own label, Mansion Records. Speaking with the star yesterday, the artiste, whose real name is David Brooks, said he will be releasing his first song, Delilah , on the label next week. He added that he started the label to assist himself and other artistes. "I just start this record label because I have a lot of young artistes around me and I think I can do so much for them," Mavado said. some international acts.

MAN SHORTAGE AFFECTS CHURCHES IN JAMAICA - Christian women complain of lack of potential husbands

he shortage of men has become a growing problem in several Jamaican churches. The st ar understands that with some church population having as much as 80 per cent women, a large number of females have been left with a problem to find husbands. This is a huge concern for a number of churches, with at least one reverend saying the shortage is at a crisis level.Reverend Philbert Johnson, ministry development officer in the New Testament Church of God, said there is a serious shortage in the number of men in the church as women in their 30s and late 40s cannot find a suitable partner. Johnson, a pastor at one of the Testament branches, said at that location he had approximately 300 members of which only 40 were men. He further said that approximately 20 of those are already married.

Microsoft buys Skype for $8.5 billion

NEW YORK (AP) - Microsoft Corp. said that it has agreed to buy the popular Internet telephone service Skype SA for $8.5 billion in the biggest deal in the software maker's 36-year history. Buying Skype gives Microsoft access to a user base of about 170 million people who log in to Skype every month, using the Internet and Skype usernames as a complement to the traditional phone network and its phone numbers. Microsoft said it will marry Skype's functions to its Xbox game console, Outlook email program and Windows smartphones. All of these platforms already have other options for Internet calling, but the addition of Skype users would expand their reach, making them more useful.

White House: Osama Bin Laden not armed when killed.

WASHINGTON, United States (AP) — The White House says Osama bin Laden was not armed when a US Navy SEAL raiding party confronted him during an assault on his compound in Pakistan. White House press secretary Jay Carney acknowledged that bin Laden did not have a weapon even though administration officials have said that bin Laden resisted during the raid. Carney said resistance does not require a firearm.
