Dancehall artiste Beenie Man gets back US visa today.

The United States Embassy in Kingston has restored the visa for dancehall artiste, Beenie Man.   Beenie man, whose real name is Moses Davis, was among several artistes who lost their visas last year.   The decision had reportedly significantly affected the earning potential of the artistes since they could no longer travel to the United States for employment purposes.

Dancehall Mavado arrested and charged

The police today arrested and charged 30-year-old dee-jay Mavado with assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property. Mavado whose real name is David Brooks is alleged to have assaulted a man and damaged his Toyota Camry motor vehicle along the Belmont main road in St. James.

The singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her flat in north London at the age of 27. The award-winning artist, famous for hits including Rehab from the critically-acclaimed album Back to Black, was discovered by police in the late afternoon. Her death was being treated on Saturday night as "unexplained".

Promoter sues Mavado - Artiste's management denies they were at fault

Promoters of the show, Stuntmania, have filed a lawsuit against singjay Mavado after the artiste didn't appear at the event in May. The promoters say Mavado's absence caused them to lose 'face' and money in the process. Mavado's management however says the promoters failed to meet "contractual agreements" which resulted in the artiste's non-appearance at the event.

POPULAR R&B singer R Kelly, will not be performing on Friday, at this year's Reggae Sumfest — an annual music festival held in Montego Bay, Jamaica. News broke earlier today that the International Night 1 headline act had undergone emergency surgery to drain an abscess from his tonsil. His publicist Allan Mayer said that the singer will be 'laid up indefinitely' at Chicago's North-western Memorial Hospital.

CHICAGO, USA (AP) — A spokesman for R Kelly says the R&B singer is in the hospital after emergency throat surgery. Kelly publicist Allan Mayer said Wednesday that doctors drained an abscess on one of Kelly’s tonsils yesterday and that the singer will be 'laid up indefinitely'; at Chicago's North-western Memorial Hospital. Mayer says Kelly had been complaining of throat pain recently and was rushed to the hospital after a throat exam. Businessman Patrick Powell Charged in Khajeel Mais killing

Fifty-year-old Patrick Powell, the St Andrew businessman implicated in the controversial shooting death of 17 year old Khajeel Mais, is to appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court Thursday to answer several charges including murder. Mr. Powell, a resident of Belgrade Loop in Kingston 19, was charged on Wednesday afternoon by investigators from the Major Investigations task Force, (MIT).

  Reggae artiste Wada Blood, son of veteran artiste Junior Reid has recently released a 'diss' song directed at deejay Aidonia called 'Guh Breed a Gal'. The song was done in response to Aidonia's recently released single called Dem A Nuh Badman , where the artiste says, 'head shot run more blood than Wada.' According to Wada Blood he didn't appreciate the context in which his name was used. "I am not in a friction with Aidonia am just standing up for music, life is not about who badda it's about love," he said.

New gun court trial date for Bounty Killer October 19, 2011

The Gun Court trial of dancehall entertainer Bounty Killer has again been stalled. The case was put off because the co-accused in the case, former police constable Calis Bowen, did not have a lawyer. The court was told that Bowen has since retained attorney-at-law, Christopher Townsend, to represent him. The new trial date has been set for October 19.

ATI weekend gives back to community in Jamaica 2011

The promoters of ATI are giving back through charity to Negril the community that has embraced them over the past 10 years. The charity effort will benefit the White Hall Early Childhood Learning Centre and the Negril Health Centre in the ATI party capital, Negril. Reggae Sumfest donates to Mobay groups 2011

The organisers of the annual international reggae music festival Reggae Sumfest have donated $400,000 in cash and computer equipment to two groups in St. James. The beneficiaries are the Montego Bay Boys’ and Girls' Club, which has received $300,000 to assist in procuring musical instruments for its band, while a computer, valued at approximately $100,000, was presented to the Jamaica Fire Brigade’s Montego Bay Office.

Last month, the rapper revealed that she's been suffering with Graves disease since 2008. Graves is an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. The Boom 45 face-off last Saturday was nothing short of explosive, as contestants came from all coordinal points, sacrificing sweat and tears to shake off opponents with the hope of being the last man standing at this year's staging of Fully Loaded. This was confirmed by the artiste's manager Julian Griffiths via the social network twitter. Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks, will undergo a series of interviews and is expected to promote a new label he has formed. Jamaican Deejay Mr. Lexx hoping to retrieve US visa

According to Mr Lexx, his visa was not revoked as a result of his disassociation with an entity. It had been rumoured that Mr Lexx, after parting ways with a particular record label, had also lost his US visa as a result. "My work permit was cancelled as a result of my breaking away from an entity, as they were the ones who had secured it for me," he said. Mr Lexx also said that he was currently in discussions about accessing a new visa, and negotiations have been going well so far. "If all goes well, I should get back my work permit before the end of the year," he predicted. In the meantime, the artiste has kept himself busy touring other countries in Europe where he says the fans are very receptive to his music. "I went to Germany, Sweden, Russia, Holland and Denmark, and the response was excellent. I didn't even have to sing some of my old songs," he said.
