How to change your spark plug.
Any driver must learn how to change their spark plugs. All you need is the right tool to do the job. When you are driving your car and it start loose power and misfire the problem could be a result of bad spark plugs. In majority of cars, changing the spark plugs is simple and quick.
You’ll need these tools to get the spark plug installation done:
12-inch socket extension
ratchet wrench
spark plug socket for your car
Just take one spark plug wire off one plug by holding the spark plug wire and repeat this procedure for the remaining plugs.
Make certain that there is no dirts and/or engine oil around the spark plug. If required, wipe the area around the spark plug hole being careful not to brush the dirt and oil in the hole.
Take out the plug with the proper tools by turning the plug to the left . Usually the tool is a 5/8 deep or 13/16 socket. You may have to have a swivel joint and an extension also.Replace it with a new one turning the spark plug in by hand until hand tight.
How to change your air filter.
A dirty or clogged up air filter will cause your motor vehicle to lose power and compression. Here are some basic steps to change your air filter by yourself.
A motor car air filter is a changeable cleansing filter. In most cases an air filter can be replaced in about 10 minutes. The air cleaner in your motor car should be changed every 4,000 miles or sooner depending on your driving conditions. To find the air filter location look for the engine air intake tube. Next, remove the air filter housing retainer clamps or screws and remove the air filter housing top cover. Then change the old air filter with a new air filter and re-assemble. Precaution, be sure to clean out any leaves or debris inside the air filter housing area upon re-assemble.
How to change your engine oil.
Don`t change your engine oil while the engine is hot, let it cool down for at least a few hours or hot oil can burn you very badly.
Make sure you have a reliable safe area to do your oil change. The motor vehicle must be parked on a level, firm ground and that is a requirement so that you can safely jack up your car. You must also put cardboard or a piece of plywood underneath the engine while the car parked on a driveway or garage ground in case of an accidental oil spill. Before you begin to do your oil change, be sure you have everything you need to get the work done.
For example some basic tools you will need to get the work done are as follows:
Ratchet or open wrench.
Oil filter wrench or use your hand with a rag.
Bucket or Oil catch pan.
Funnel or use a plastic bottle drink and make your own funnel.
A new oil filter.
Pack of New Oils-depends on the amount your car uses.
Clean cloth or towel.
