Call for Hollywood to embrace Caribbean films
Film producer Gina Belafonte, daughter of singer, actor and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte, is calling on Hollywood to make space for films that depict Caribbean culture.
In her address at the Caribbean Tales Film Festival 2012 she said the festival is important in that it gives the local and international community a chance to see indigenous stories of the Caribbean.
Ms Belafonte’s bio documentary about the life of her father premiered at the festival.
Caribbean Tales with bases in Barbados, Toronto and New York showcase works celebrating and exploring Caribbean themes and issues of interest to the Caribbean Diaspora.
