Lawyers seek release of KOOL-FM disc jockey Wayne W. Whyte

 
 An attempt will be made today, Friday April 13, to secure the release of  KOOL-FM disc jockey Wayne W. Whyte who was arrested a week ago on allegations of  attempted murder.


Mr. Whyte's legal team will be heading to the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court this morning to file a writ of  habeas corpus.


The lawyers were expecting that he would have been charged yesterday and taken to court this morning.
However, up to late yesterday evening the police had not laid  charges.

Defence attorney, Christopher Townsend says the writ will be filed as Mr. Whyte has been held for an extended period without being charged.

A team from the Office of  the Director of  Public Prosecutions met on Wednesday with investigators to go through the file.

Mr. Whyte was one of  three persons detained shortly after his co- worker at KOOL-FM, Jody-Ann Gray, was shot twice at her gate.

he shortage of men has become a growing problem in several Jamaican churches. The st ar understands that with some church population having as much as 80 per cent women, a large number of females have been left with a problem to find husbands. This is a huge concern for a number of churches, with at least one reverend saying the shortage is at a crisis level.Reverend Philbert Johnson, ministry development officer in the New Testament Church of God, said there is a serious shortage in the number of men in the church as women in their 30s and late 40s cannot find a suitable partner. Johnson, a pastor at one of the Testament branches, said at that location he had approximately 300 members of which only 40 were men.
