Usain Bolt withdraws from Monaco meet today
DOUBLE World Record holder Usain Bolt has withdrawn from the Hercules
meeting in Monaco, his final warm up race before the Olympic Games.
A statement from his publicist Carole Beckford early this morning quoted
coach Glen Mills as saying the athlete had a setback after taking part
in the recent JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Trials, and would use the
time for treatment and time to adequately prepare for the Olympics which
starts in 22 days in London.

The statement from Mills read: “Arising from Usain's participation at
the National Trials in Kingston this past weekend where he had a slight
problem, after careful assessment, I have had to withdraw him from the
Samsung Diamond League Meeting in Monaco on July 20 to give him
sufficient time for treatment and time to train and prepare for the
Olympic Games in London."
Meanwhile, there was a quote from the athlete as well:
"I am happy to have earned my spot on the Jamaican Olympic team despite
the challenge. I will be in London to defend my titles in the 100, 200
and 4 X 100 metres. I want to congratulate my fellow Racers Track Club
members along with the other athletes who made the team. I thank
everyone for their support."
