New Date set for Bounti Killa’s Gun trial

Dancehall artiste Rodey Pryce popularly known as "Bounti Killa" is to stand trial on gun charges on October 20, 2010
The trial date was set Monday when the DJ appeared before the Gun Court in downtown Kingston.
Bounti Killa is charged jointly with an ex-policeman, Calis Brown, for illegal possession of a firearm, unlawful wounding and assault.
The charges stem from an alleged attack on a police constable in New Kingston in 2007.



Investigators reported that on September 27, 2007, the police constable drove into a convoy of vehicles owned by Bounti Killa and members of his entourage along St. Lucia Avenue in New Kingston.
The Constable tooted his horn to be allowed through and this led to an altercation with members of the DJ's entourage.
Bounti Killa allegedly pulled a gun and Constable Calis Brown who was in the group, proceeded to beat the Constable.
The matter was reported to the Police High Command and following an internal investigation Calis Brown was dismissed from the police force in January 2008.
The matter was further investigated and a filed submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions who ruled that Bounti Killa and the ex-cop be charged.
