Learning to read is one of the most important skills you can have in your interpersonal life. Whether you’re focusing on professional success, friendship, romance, marriage, career or parenting.




Learning how to Read people will give you the ability to make sound decisions and develop incredible insight into people’s lives. With practice, your ability to understand the core motivations, desires, and thoughts of others can become so accurate as to border on an invasion of privacy.
Firstly, what is reading ? is it bringing meaning to the printed text.
Most of us think of reading as a simple, passive process that involves reading words in a linear fashion and internalizing their meaning one at a time. But reading is actually a very complex process that requires a great deal of active participation on the part of the reader.
Readers use a variety of reading strategies to assist with decoding (to translate symbols into sounds or visual representations of speech and comprehension. Readers may use phonology, semantics, syntax , syllabication and context clues to identify the meaning of unknown words. Readers integrate the words they have read into their existing framework of knowledge or schema.
What are critical reading skills?
Critical reading skills are the ability to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize what one reads. They are the ability to see relationships of ideas and use them as an aid in reading.
Here are some examples of critical reading skills:
  • Seeing questions and expecting answers
  • Seeing cause and effect
Definition of the reading process according to (Hennings, 1994, p. 456). Reading is an interactive-constructive process in which readers comprehend, interpret, and respond to text according to what they already know. Effective readers "have personal expectations about what they will get from a selection, and they bring those expectations to bear as they read by predicting and testing their predictions. They actively create meaning by constructing, or generating, relationships between what is within the text and what they already know"

MAN SHORTAGE AFFECTS CHURCHES IN JAMAICA - Christian women complain of lack of potential husbands

he shortage of men has become a growing problem in several Jamaican churches. The st ar understands that with some church population having as much as 80 per cent women, a large number of females have been left with a problem to find husbands. This is a huge concern for a number of churches, with at least one reverend saying the shortage is at a crisis level.Reverend Philbert Johnson, ministry development officer in the New Testament Church of God, said there is a serious shortage in the number of men in the church as women in their 30s and late 40s cannot find a suitable partner. Johnson, a pastor at one of the Testament branches, said at that location he had approximately 300 members of which only 40 were men. He further said that approximately 20 of those are already married.
