CONTROVERSIAL dancehall deejay Rodney ‘Bounty Killer’
Price is to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on
September 27 to answer to ganja-related charges.
Allegations are that the leader of the Alliance was reportedly seen
smoking in the vicinity of First Caribbean Bank along Grenada Way in New
Kingston last October. He was accosted and searched and a small
quantity of the drug was reportedly found in his possession.
The artiste was subsequently charged with possession of and smoking
marijuana, but has since denied the charges.
Yesterday when he appeared in court before Resident Magistrate Maxine
Ellis, the trial was rescheduled and his bail was extended.
Meanwhile, upcoming dancehall artiste Popcaan, who is charged with
smoking ganja, is to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s
Court on August 17.
The Portmore Empire member, whose real name is Andre Sutherland, had
his bail extended yesterday when he appeared in court before Resident
Magistrate Judith Pusey.
The entertainer, who is represented by attorney Alando Terrelonge,
maintained his not guilty plea.
According to police reports, on May 9 at about 8:00 pm, policemen were
on patrol on Mannings Hill Road in St Andrew when they spotted a
motorcar with four men aboard.
The car was stopped and the entertainer, who was driving the car, was
seen with a ganja spliff in his mouth.
He was then taken to the Constant Spring Police Station where he was
arrested and charged and was later released on $5,000 bail.
The artiste is known for the catchy line: Weh you get da new Clarks
de Dawdie which is featured in the popular collaboration, Clarks,
with Vybz Kartel and Gaza Slim.
