Vybz Kartel and Mavado to spend to night in jail together, will be interviewed tomorrow morning.

POPULAR Jamaican deejays Mavado and Vybz Kartel, have been thrown behind bars. Kartel, real name Adijah Palmer and Mavado, real name David Brooks, reported to the Police at the Constant Spring Police Station earlier today after they were last night named as persons of interest.

Both deejays will be formally interviewed by detectives tomorrow. Their attorneys Valerie Nieta-Robinson (Kartel) and Christian Tavares- Finson (Mavado) will also attend. Police say both men wield considerable influence in the communities of 'big Yard and Cassava Piece which runs off Mannings Hill Road. The cops say they are to be questioned in connection with several serious crimes that have been committed in the community in recent times.

MAN SHORTAGE AFFECTS CHURCHES IN JAMAICA - Christian women complain of lack of potential husbands

he shortage of men has become a growing problem in several Jamaican churches. The st ar understands that with some church population having as much as 80 per cent women, a large number of females have been left with a problem to find husbands. This is a huge concern for a number of churches, with at least one reverend saying the shortage is at a crisis level.Reverend Philbert Johnson, ministry development officer in the New Testament Church of God, said there is a serious shortage in the number of men in the church as women in their 30s and late 40s cannot find a suitable partner. Johnson, a pastor at one of the Testament branches, said at that location he had approximately 300 members of which only 40 were men. He further said that approximately 20 of those are already married.
