Tad’s Records to release Vybz Kartel compilation

TAD'S Record is set to release Colouring Book, a compilation of the biggest radio and street anthems of 2011 from Vybz Kartel. In keeping with Kartel's controversial nature and unrestricted lyrical prowess, the album will feature both the raw and edited versions of 12 of the deejay's hit singles. Colouring Book will hit digital outlets on July 19.

Beenie Man Yard Swag rum coming

Deejay Beenie Man is setting himself for the summer season with the news that he has signed major endorsement deals with MegaMart and that he's just inked a deal to have his own line of liquor, Yaad Swag, as a business partner with former Vybz Kartel associate — American businessman Corey Todd. However, the Rum and Red Bull deejay is not leaving his music too far behind, having just released a new video for his combination single, One Man Woman, featuring Down Sound recording artiste Toya.

Lisa Hyper Charge for Assualt Incident

Dancehall female deejay Lisa Hyper has been charged with assault. Allegations are that on Sunday June 12, about 2 a.m., the deejay was about to enter a dance in the area when she was doused with a liquid substance believed to be urine mixed with pepper. Further allegations are that she retaliated by throwing several blows at her attacker. The Stony Hill police have confirmed the incident.

Jamaica Artiste Mavado could testify in nightclub shooting case at Quad night club

The Director of Public Prosecutions is to rule whether dancehall artiste Mavado, is to be called as a witness in the case involving the shooting death of one of his associates. Conroy Edwards, who was reportedly part of the artiste's entourage, was shot in the abdomen, allegedly by a policeman, during an altercation outside a New Kingston nightclub on June 13. He died in hospital three days later.

Reggae Music fraternity reacts to Buju Banton’s 10 year sentence

Members of the music fraternity have been reacting to the 10 year sentence handed down to Buju Banton on Thursday morning. Gramps Morgan of Morgan Heritage fame who was at Thursday's hearing said the sentence although not the maximum penalty, will be challenging for the artiste.

  Dancehall artiste Mavado has finally spoken out about the recent incident at a nightclub in New Kingston and claims it was merely an attempt to assassinate him. In a YouTube video that is more than 14 minutes long, Mavado spoke openly about the incident that occurred at Bounty Killer's birthday party held at a popular nightclub in New Kingston on Sunday. He explained that he was there with his babymother, sister, his friend and about four other people. "That's not an entourage, that's about nine people," he said, disputing earlier media reports which he said were attempts to tarnish his career.

Jah Vinci, who made his exit shortly after Corey Todd's split with Vybz Kartel, said he has been receiving a lot of support from people in the music industry since his much publicised departure from the group recently. "Fi mi a more supporter 'cause everybody a seh good move. The entire music industry a big mi up. Dem seh mi will go far because of leaving," Jah Vinci told  the star . He said some of them have even suggested that they work together.

Singer Rihanna signs deal to promote Barbados her home town.

One of the best-selling artists of all time with more than 30 million records and 100 million singles sold, Rihanna has signed a multi-year deal with the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) to exclusively promote her hometown island of Barbados as a tourist destination. The three-year partnership officially kicks off in Bridgetown, Barbados on August 5 with a full-length concert of her current “Loud” tour.

R&B singer Ne-Yo seeks local talent - Launches Caribbean leg of his record label in Jamaica

R&B superstar Ne-Yo has launched the Caribbean leg of his record label and yesterday, announced plans to have a series of parties in Negril for Emancipation weekend. The singer announced his intentions for the island's music at his media launch last night at the Spanish Court Hotel. He unveiled the Caribbean leg of Compound Entertainment label, dubbed 'Compound Island.' The Compound brand takes the Jamaican initiative even further with his Compound Island series of parties set for Negril from July 29 - 30 this summer.

The police have charged dancehall star Mavado has been charged following an altercation at a New Kingston nightclub early Monday morning, June 13. Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, was charged Monday evening after being questioned by detectives at the Half Way Tree Police Station but was given $30,000 bail.

A man, said to be a member of dancehall artiste Mavado's entourage, is now in hospital in serious condition after being allegedly shot by a policeman. This follows an incident outside a nightclub in New Kingston early Monday morning [June 13]. RJR News understands that the incident took place following a birthday party for another DJ at the popular club.

POPULAR entertainers Rodney 'Bounty Killer' Price and David 'Mavado' Brooks have been named as persons of interest by the Half-Way-Tree Police following an incident outside the Quad Nightclub in New Kingston during the wee hours of this morning. Price and Brooks are being asked to report to the Half-Way-Tree Police Station by midday today.

STUDENTS of at least four Corporate Area high schools complain that they are being terrorised by gangs of aggressive lesbians at their schools who target young, vulnerable girls for sexual favours. Reports of the activities of these gangs have reached as high a level as the Ministry of Education. However, despite efforts to get information on what were reportedly top-level discussions within the ministry on the wave of reports of rampant lesbian activities in some high schools, there was no official response to the Sunday Observer's queries.

Supreme Promotions Limited will be staging a benefit concert for popular dancehall entertainer Desmond 'Ninja Man' Ballentine on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Jamworld in Portmore, St Catherine. The concert will seek to assist the incarcerated deejay and his family with their financial expenses. Isaiah Laing, CEO of Supreme Promotions, said Ninja Man is reaching out to his fellow comrades in the industry for their assistance. "Ninja Man is a very kind-hearted person.   With her own first-hand experience, popular dancer Keiva says she is now the face of two skin-toning products. Speaking with the star yesterday, Keiva explained that she has been using the products, Glow & White and Diva Maxi Tone, since January. It was after using it that she was approached to be the face. "I am using this from January and I have a nice skin tone. If it was a bleaching cream, I would be white. My friend introduced me to it first. I started using it and I realised that it just makes my skin pretty in two months' time," she said, noting that it is available at different locations in Kingston. Keiva also stressed the fact that the products are not for skin-bleaching.

Vybz Kartel promises his book this summer 2011

Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel says he will be releasing a book, titled Voice of the Ghetto, this summer. According to a news release from the artiste, the book is an in-depth look at ghetto life in Jamaica through his eyes, and will give the historical causes for how Jamaica got into the problems it now has and some suggestions from Kartel on how to improve the plight of people living the ghettos. The book, he said, has been in the making for over two years.

LESBIANS PLAN BIG PARTY WEEKEND - in Jamaica its called LTI

There was the RTI weekend and ATI, now make way for Lesbian Temptation Isle (LTI). A new party series catering to lesbians is being planned in Montego Bay, St James, at the end of this month. Scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 3, LTI will be held in Ironshore, Montego Bay.
