DJ Cobra shot - Second entertainer in less than a week- Updated

A close friend of the Portmore-based deejay said that he was shot when he stopped his car to speak to someone in a section of Braeton Phase One. Police reports further claim that the incident occurred about 7 p.m.


Cobra, according to source, drove himself from the shooting to the hospital.
Several artistes, entertainment personalities and politicians turned up at the hospital after news of the incident began spreading. Brown is the second dancehall artiste to be attacked in two days, as Oneil Edwards of the group Voicemail, was shot and injured at his home Monday morning. He is still in hospital and remains in critical condition.

Among the entertainers who turned up at the Spanish Town hospital were Wickerman, McNuffy, Beetle Bailey, Tiger, Stacious, Craigy T, and Benzly Hype. Olivia 'Babsy' Grange, minister of youth, culture and sports, and Mayor of Spanish Town Andrew Wheatley were also among the persons present.
Grange in an interview after visiting Cobra last night said that a unified approach is needed to fight the crime monster.
"We must stop pointing fingers and unite to fight the crime, we have to fight back," Grange said.
Several of the artistes also spoke of their concerns for Cobra and the crime situation. "Da one ya mi can't manage. Mi can't manage it," Stacious said.

For his part Wickerman said; "We are just here praying for him. We have to go now and spread the word that we can't tek the gunshot thing no more."
Cobra is known for hit songs such as Flex and Legacy. On Saturday, the deejay appeared as a guest judge on the popular Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall.
